What a Class!!

Mr Jewell turned 21 today (again). The class sneakily decorated the room, organised a card, cake and balloons! What a thoughtful group of children!
Unfortunately we had observers from Glasgow Uni in class all day so the festivities were followed by a day of hard work.
A huge thanks to the best class in the world!

Baking 3: Empire Biscuits and Banoffee Pies

Today in the third of our baking seasons we were making more delights; empire biscuits and mini Banoffee pies.
We are having these baking afternoons partly as preparation for our ideal homes exhibition in a few weeks time. We will hopefully bake the treats we have made over the weeks to offer to the visitors to the exhibition.

Badminton

Today in PE we had our penultimate badminton session at Greenock Sports Centre. Over the past number of weeks everyone has shown improvement. Some of the children have made dramatic progress. We will, of course, re-visit badminton again in coming years and look forward to seeing further improvement as the children go on through the school.
You can view a snapshot of our badminton block here:

Tea... And Home!

After a great week it's time for the last leg of the journey - the trip home! The children have been absolutely smashing, we've all had a fantastic time and learned a whole lot about the history of one of Britain's most fascinating cities. We've heard of Romans, Angles, Vikings and Victorians. Chocolate, Guy Fawkes and Nerf guns - it's been quite a week. The teachers would like to thank all parents and families for such polite, well brought up children. They were truly a credit to you all, and in two and a half hours... They're all yours!

Fun in the Park

Today we spent the morning in the park across from the hotel. It is another glorious day and we enjoyed a picnic lunch and lots of time to play. The main games seemed to be Nerf wars and sword fights with a dash of circus skills thrown in!

Cruise on the Ouse

Here are some photos of our cruise on the Ouse. We had a special boat put on for us and listened to a fascinating account of York history as we sailed. Including stories of Guy Fawkes, a famous son of York. After the cruise we walked back to the hotel through the old town, getting some chips to share on the way!
Then it was off to bed after another interesting experience!

Castle Museum

This afternoon we went round the Castle museum. We were taken by Craig who was dressed as a Victorian apple seller. He took us down the Victorian street and explained all about the different trades and lifestyles of the Victorians. The street was too dark to take good pictures but it was a fascinating afternoon.
